How to connect to our ftp site from MAC OS X

Step 1 - Getting the required software

  • In order to connect to our FTP Server you need an FTP client. There is a free open source FTP client called CyberDuck. You will need to download and install CyberDuck before you continue with these steps. The web site address for CyberDuck is www.cyberduck.ch. From that website you will download the file from the download section of the website. As of this "How To" the current version is 2.8beta1.

Step 2 - Installing the required software

  • In order to use this software you need to open the Cyberduck-#.#.#.dmg file and copy the Cyberduck application to your hard drive. For this demo I have copied it to the desktop.

  • Once you have copied the CyberDuck launcher to the hard drive double-click it to start the application.

Step 3 - Setting up the connection

  • From the main application windows click the Open Connection button to open the connection manager.

  • Now that the connection manager is open enter the required information into the new connection. The server , user id and password information is in the Drexel Technologies, Inc. FTP Account Information email that you recieved when you setup your FTP account.

Before:

After:

  • Once that is done click the connect button to connect to the FTP server.

  • At this point I would add the connection to your booksmarks so that you can reuse it at a later date. Click the bookmarks button and add this connection to the list.
Step 4 - Creating and Project Folder

  • From the File Menu option click on New Folder. Enter the name of the project that you are uploading and click the create button. This will create a new Folder on the FTP site.

  • Double click that folder to move into the new project folder. You will know when your in that folder when you can see that the address bar reads "/Project Folder" where Project Folder is the name you just created.

Uncheck the check box for "Log on anonymously" and enter your FTP Site user name.

Step 5 - Uploading and Downloading files

  • To upload files to the FTP server select your file(s) and drag them to the window. This will upload the files from your machine to the FTP Server. To download files from the FTP server select the files on the FTP site and drag them to your desktop or Folder that you want to save them to.

  • The transfers manager will open and show progress of the files as they are uploaded and downloaded.

  • Please note that the FTP site does not notify us when you upload or download files. Please send us an email with your Job Information and instructions to print your files.

Have a great day!
